Cycle

We as humans learn the geometric rules and love the order that comes with it. Everything is clean and smooth, round or angular, in artificial harmony. We are reinventing everything and we are thinking in artificial dimensions – in almost all fields of our life, from the design of a new, fashion-driven tableware to the construction of a new propeller that drives a container ship many times faster to the visualization of data in company presentations.

But it is precisely in nature that we find all possible forms of geometry, in the structure of flowers, leaves, fruits and trees, in the cubic structures of the crystal lattices of some metals, in the structure of hard corals, in the plexus of fungi in the ground. A list would be endless. Nature offers us an abundance of inspiration that we can take in and from which we can learn.

We humans often forget that we are just part of nature. For this reason I use geometry as a connecting element in this cycle. I allow us as human beings to fuse again with nature.

Artistic Approach

In this cycle I created geometric symmetries to represent the artificially-thinking human and applied them to a thin canvas with acrylic paints.

The driftwood serves as a representative for the nature with its own inherent geometry. I added the background color of the canvas to the driftwood and then positioned it on the respective work.

For the symbolic representation of the fusion of humans and nature, I have transferred the artificial geometry of us humans to the driftwood in such a way that both flow into each another and are connected to one another.

To increase the 3D factor, I then applied the canvas to a thin, stained wooden panel as a frame.
