I started this project by making a selection of nine photographs of Rosa Parks at a different age. Photographs distinctly emerging her charisma, which I described in my accompanying text.

I then edited these photographs. I isolated Rosa Parks from the background and gradually transformed her image into a kind of stencil style to best reflect her appearance. Then I made a final selection of three images.

I transferred these images onto canvas in center, right and left position, elaborated her portraits, and set individual color accents.

At the same time, I chose three statements from Rosa Parks I consider as important for the development of our society. In a final step, I painted these statements on the canvas as single letters and words.

I worked out the images and statements of Rosa Parks with fine acrylic pencils, which led to thousands of individual strokes per canvas and to an inflammation of my right wrist and elbow.
